Sony is pleased to introduce the PDW-75MD, the second generation XDCAM® HD medical grade 1080i video disc recorder replacing the PDW-70MD. Utilizing innovative dual layer 50 gigabyte professional media, the new compact PDW-75MD can record up to four and one half hours of HD video on a single disc. With HD camera systems fast becoming the standard in today's digital operating rooms, there is increasing demand to record procedures in full HD quality. Capable of being positioned horizontally or vertically, the PDW-75MD is the smart choice for the digital OR.
Sony is also pleased to announce the launch of the PDW-75MD/U1 Vegas HD Medical Recording and Editing Package which includes the PDW-75MD HD recorder, the new PDW-U1 External XDCAM HD Disc Drive and Sony Vegas 8.0 Professional HD Video Editing Software. This complete package provides the user with an HD recorder for recording HD video in the operating room as well as an XDCAM HD disc drive and editing software for use with a PC or laptop in a doctor's office or other editing workstation.
The package allows doctors to edit their HD video in order to archive only pertinent segments of surgical procedures and make compelling presentations to students or colleagues. Like other external disc drives, the PDW-U1 simply connects to an editing PC, Mac or laptop via USB 2.0 enabling direct viewing of the recorded XDCAM HD video. The comprehensive but user-friendly Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 editing software allows the user to perform all types of editing from the simplest cuts to sophisticated professional edits. The software enables the edited video to be burned to Blu-Ray DVD (HD quality)*, standard DVD (standard definition)* or back to XDCAM HD** depending on the intended playback medium or venue.
*Media formats dependent upon editing computer specifications.
** The capability of writing files to the professional XDCAM HD media in the PDW-U1 drive is expected to be available by Summer 2008
